CGI Group Inc. has signed a three-year, $16.5 million agreement with Quebec’s department of justice.

Under the terms of the agreement, CGI will be responsible for the operation, development, upgrading, back-up, recovery and management support of the technological infrastructures and systems of the Direction des registres et de la certification (DRC). Over the life of the contract, some 50 CGI professionals will work with the DRC.

CGI will be entrusted with a number of development and optimization projects for the DRC’s four public registers. It will also handle upgrading and operating the public key infrastructure (infrastructure à clés publiques gouvernementale or ICPG) used by many government departments and agencies to assure the security of their electronic transactions. The ICPG offers government departments and agencies as well as users of online services secure transactions through an electronic signature and the encryption of documents. This solution ensures that data is both complete and confidential.

CGI will also be responsible for the technical support of the DRC’s IT infrastructures and their back-up and recovery at specialized facilities. And finally, the DRC will draw on CGI’s management consulting expertise.

By contributing to the development of DRC services, this agreement with CGI will allow the Direction to pursue the deployment of its strategic plan. Businesses and citizens who use its services will thus benefit from the leading-edge technologies that will be implemented.
